Le Mans Classic by Laurent Nivalle

I find it harder and harder to find something I feel is worth sharing, but the photos that Laurent Nivalle took at the Le Mans Classic are something I really enjoyed. Car photography is something of an interesting topic that leads to some points that we’ve come to believe. There are two types of photographs of cars, the ones you take to look at the car, and ones that treat the car as part of a greater picture.
Ok so I think I might be a little tired and thus blabbing. But basically I love the cinematic feel of Laurent’s photos. You can check out my favourites after the jump or see the whole gallery here.

Optiko – Tattersall’s Arcade, Brisbane

Ok so a while ago yours truly needed some new spectacles and while gallivanting through the city we found the mothership of Eyewear, quiet possibly the best optical store I personally have ever stumbled into. Vintage, quirky, stylish, cool, praise worthy and the most eclectic collection of eyewear as far as the eye can see (pun wholeheartedly intended). I’ve been to great stores in Paris, London, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and Bangkok, but no one place has ever offered more than the 4000’s own, Optiko at Tattersall’s Arcade, Brisbane.

Outstanding

So you got your new iMac and you’re impressing everyone with the wireless keyboard and Magic Mouse, but the energizer batteries that you power them with are a bit passe aren’t they? Plus you’ll need some more chemical cylinders when your new Magic Trackpad (not to be confused with the much less magical trackpad seen on Macbooks). Well thank the good lord that Apple has released their battery charger that supplies you with rechargeable batteries that are apparently good for 10 years, and it’s only $40!
Look there’s a point to this whole speel. As much as you can sling crap at Apple or its fanatical customers, there’s a good reason why it is kicking just about every other company’s arse in the sector. It’s things like this that are absolutely brilliant, what happens when you have systems that are wireless and run on batteries? Why you sell rechargeable batteries that last for 10 years, but you give people 6 so that they can power each of the wireless peripherals you make Bravo again, Mr Jobs.

“We have a pretty small gallery space. So its fitting really, and definitely a little last minute, that we decided to deck out a shipping container as a temporary space for Splendour in the Grass and put together a group show ingeniously named ‘Art by Artists’” – Nine Lives
