Bill Cunningham – New York
New York Times photographer Bill Cunningham the Schwinn-riding cultural anthropologist has been obsessively and inventively chronicling fashion trends and high society charity soirées for the Times Style section in his columns "On the Street" and "Evening Hours”, for nearly three decades. Documenting uptown fixtures, downtown eccentrics and everyone in between, Cunningham’s enormous body of work is more reliable than any catwalk as an expression of time, place and individual flair. In turn, Bill Cunningham New York is a delicate, funny and often poignant portrait of a dedicated artist whose only wealth is his own humanity and unassuming grace.
The words above are not my own but I couldn’t really put it any better, if you are a fan of fashion, photography or just watching things about truly interesting and charming people this documentary is a must watch. Bill Cunningham take pictures that are unplanned/uninitiated, which is something I personally aspire to, but the charm and grace and speed Bill Cunningham demonstrates and the results he draws out of just everyday people is not something you can replicate but can only take inspiration from. You can now buy it on DVD from Amazon and should be able to get it off iTunes soon enough.
- T, must admit I did get a bit choked up in a few of the scenes the man is just so damn charming
Night Motion Timelapse – Outer Banks
Anyone who’s familiar with my other blog will know that I’m a huge fan of good night time/sky timelapse photography. This effort by Daniel Dragon Films is one of the better ones. The fact that they’ve chosen a really dark and moody soundtrack really adds to the film.
- S, make sure you watch in HD and with the sound way up.
Jamel Shabazz Street Photographer
Jamel Shabazz documented a movement, their clothes, their dance and their stance, in one perfect book called Back in the Days, which I posted about a few weeks ago. The book is being re-released and just in time legendary director Charlie Ahearn who created the cult classic Wild Style has created a documentary on the man behind the stills, Jamel Shabazz Street Photographer.
- T, sadly don’t think this will be in theatres here we will all have to wait for a dvd release
Today I’m wearing – Adidas ZX500

One of the best ZX500 colourways of recent years in my opinion.
- S, extra ZX after the click
Today I’m wearing – Nike Air Summer Beacon

We’re experiencing some inclement weather in Brisbane at the moment, reminds me of a autumn day back in my home town of Manchester, still, at least it means I get to wear denim for a while.
- S, more crazy beacon brightness after the click
World Press Photo 11 – Brisbane Powerhouse

Showcasing some of the most talented press photographers in the world, the annual World Press Photo exhibition hit The Powerhouse in Brisbane last Saturday. Running until Sunday 26th June, I highly recommend making a trip down to New Farm to check it out, make sure to head downstairs, where you’ll find the more provocative images.
- S, check out what’s on offer
A Not So Dull Drive Home

A lovely glow in the sky isn’t it? Well that lovely glow was caused by a exploding lorry which was a pretty epic visual experience. Thankfully being a blogger I had my tripod and camera equipment handy to snap of a few pictures but in hind sight I should’ve filmed it, it was ridiculously loud and impressive.
