I know, I know…the quality is far from great…and the shape is way off from the OG’s.  What can I say: I’m a weak man, the pain I felt the last time I missed out on the last release of the laser blues was too much to bear again so I gave in and pulled the trigger.

Lazy Sunday was required after a satisfying, but heavy night saying goodbye to T and Eve.  I try not to think about how cheap this pack went down to on the CT store, because I should have really doubled up on all 3 shoes, but hindsight is a wonderful thing, as they say.

We got together last night for a meal at Mos Burger in Sunnybank Hills, it was a bitter sweet affair as we sat down for one last dinner with our home girl Eve, who we have had the privilege of calling our friend for the past 4 years. We celebrated her last night in the 4000 with a dysfunctional family feast with way too much food, I am talking 2 to 3 burgers each like between 7 of us and the wait staff got rather frustrated of our appetite, but we just wanted the dinner to last as long as we could. We will no doubt see her again in the near future but for now we must bid her farewell and the best of luck with her endeavours.

So I spent the last few days in Sydney checking out The Wearer’s Right, which is a new benchmark trade show for fashion and streetwear in Australia. These events are about more than just talking shop, a lot of the time you get to meet people you have been working with for years for the first time. I spent most of my time interviewing local brands and a few notable international ones and am now working my way through three days of footage. Shouts to the boys at Mr. Simple for letting me camp out at their booth and the crew at Capsule for always looking after me.

The last few months I have been up and down (mostly down) the east coast, both for work and blog trips, which have involved countless hours of driving to airports, waiting for flights, sitting in trains, hours behind the lens then hours in front of computers, talking shit in bars and a few semi-serious-coherent discussions.

Most of them with good friends who are active in street wear and culture, some who work at retail spots, others distributing, few artist types and even some on their way to their own street wear empires. A surprising amount of whom I grew up with or around, so it was really interesting to discuss the matters of the world that has so consumed us over the past decade and tried to get some consensus on a topic.

The 4000’s certainly have some creative types, some of the most talented of whom, came out to Laced on Friday night to show off their Munny customising skills.  The beers flowed and the crowd was treated to a display of some awesomely customised figures.

So, T showed up at my work this evening with the ‘new’ idea to go and eat.  We plumped for somewhere new, and boy did it end up being a good idea.  Jakarta on Brunswick St. New Farm offers some awesome Indonesian food….prices aint the cheapest and portions aren’t what we’ve come to expect of from this type of eatery, but it’s still a strong recommendation.
