It’s been over six months since my last Top Ten and a fair bit has happened since then. I’ve been pretty busy working on various projects, and with the re-opening of Laced‘s (proper) store coming very soon I’ve found some time to compile a wish list of goodies that I’d love to see in my stocking this year round. I’ve made it simple for y’all by including prices and links (where possible) to the items so… no pressure…

- t,

1. Supreme Dice – $50

Last time I did a Top Ten I mentioned not really being into Supreme, this is still true. However it so happens that twice in a row my first Top Ten item has been from the NY brand. This time it’s a set of dice, nothing really amazing, incredibly over priced, and exactly what I want.

2. Mark Drew for New Era Snapback

New Era have finally set up shop in Australia and to mark this occasion they teamed up with Mark Drew and the Saint Side crew. Mr Drew’s design caught my eye immediately, especially in the (more limited) raiders colour. I don’t have a price on these but it should be around the $50 mark, you might be able to pick up one still if you contact Mark directly via the link above.

3. Baracuta x Deluxe G9 – $570

Deluxe have teamed up with Baracuta before, but most of the time the outcome has been too similar to the original jackets to justify the extra money outlay. This time around though the Japanese street tailors outfitted the classic silhouette in a really nice camo. DPM is coming back in a huge way next year but I think this will still stand out above a lot of the offerings on the way. Yes it’s pricey, but it’s a wishlist. If there’s a sugar daddy out there that wants to give me one I’d be forever grateful.

4. Butter Goods “Bad Habits” Tee – $60

Butter Goods have been putting out great stuff as I’ve mentioned previously, this Bad Habits tee is my favourite from their current season. I’m pretty into animals on shirts, and black panthers are pretty cool so this is a winner.

5. HUF x Challenger Tee - $30

Told y’all I liked animals on tees and this one has two! HUF teamed up with Japan’s Challenger to create the “CUF” series. Available only online, this one has a nice graphic and the price is damn tasty thanks to the strong Aussie dollar. Shipping will cost a bit more but hey, Santa can afford it.

6. Diamond Supply Co. “Player” Tee – $55

Diamond Supply Co. have been around for a minute, I’ve always have had respect for them but their stuff has never really appealed to me. However the “Player” tee is awesome, being a not-so-subtle dig at Comme Des Garcons’ “Play” line it has created a fair bit of controversy among fans of the Japanese label.

7. Original Fake Skull Mat – $200

The gents at Apartment have just secured an Original Fake account, this means that there’s going to be expensive X’s flooding the streets of Brisbane in no time. In their first shipment were these rugs, which are more akin to a bath mat if you ask me. My favourite colour is the blue version, which coincidentally is the last one left in stock… HINT HINT.

8 . Stussy x Pendelton Rug – $TBA

This one is a long shot, mainly because the capsule hasn’t even released yet. Stussy and Pendelton teamed up again for a collection which yields a shirt and this rug; the shirt is nothing amazing but the pattern and characters on this rug is awesome. I have no idea on the price but it wont matter because I’m worth it.

9. Paul Precision Components Bottle Opener – $15

Paul have been making incredibly high quality bicycle components for decades now, this year though they’ve branched out into bottle openers. These little dudes are awesome, simple and well machined they’ll look great when i’m opening a cool beverage or adjusting my brakes…

10. Noir by Chup Socks – $36 or 3 Pack for $99

Last but not least, these NOIR socks by Chup. I posted about them earlier and mentioned that I really wanted the black and red ones, low and behold they turned up on my doorstep today and I couldn’t be more chuffed. Huge thanks to the cuties at Up There for the early christmas pressie.

Shoes and flowery shirts dominate this one, but more important than questioning my sexuality is the fact that everything I’ve picked for this Top Ten is under $300. Perfect in these times of tight money.

- t,

1. Supreme x Liberty Shirt – $121

Anyone that knows me is aware that I’m not exactly a fan of Supreme. That’s not to say I don’t respect what they have done and continue to do, it’s just that I’m not fond of the hype that their loyal young followers seem to create over the smallest application of a box logo onto whatever they want. I actually did an article for the infamous site Don’t Believe the Hypebeast when it still existed years ago highlighting this point (which seems to have gotten worse). Anyway, regardless this shirt overcame the prejudices I have, especially the red version. Sadly it’s all sold out… As to be expected.

2. Vanquish x Ubiq Grace – $155

I’ve shown interest in the Ubiq Grace before and Vanquish took the silhouette to a nice new level by treating it with monotone neutral colours. My pick is the almost purple tinged grey version, although the sand suede is a classic as well.

3. Adam Kimmel Black Bandana Belt – $108

Adam Kimmel has been doing some really interesting things of late, one of which is the upcoming collection with Carhartt. Meanwhile he has been going strong with the current seasoned inspired by a young Snoop Dogg. This belt brings some hood flavour to high fashion in a pretty simple and effective way.

4. Mark McNairy TBS Country Brogue – $266

One of my favourite online menswear stores teams up with one of my favourite gentleman’s footwear designers to create one of my favourite sensible shoes in a long time; the TBS Country Brogue in Snuff Brown suede.

5. Our Legacy Great Sweat – $110

They named it the great sweat for a reason, and the weather isn’t going to get any more perfect than it is right now. This one comes highly recommended from a man I have a great deal of respect for; Gary Warnett.

6. Nike Free Run+ 2 – $85

Nike is still killing it with their modern runners. The newest Free model aptly named the Free Run+ 2 has a wicked shape to it and in the “hero” turquoise/orange colour scheme they look mighty fresh. Problems arise when you see how popular these are and that they’re basically selling out immediately to the point where they’re rarer than hen’s teeth.

7. Iuter Africa Tee – $66

I have a bit of an obsession with patterns, in particular camouflages that incorporate weird things, like for example a full array of safari dwelling animals over a plethora of cyan and yellow leaves… Awesome.

8. Saucony Fastwitch 5 – $90

We’ve seen a slew of modern silhoettes from adidas, Nike, New Balance and most of the other big names. Not all have been winners, but there are definitely some future classics floating around the market right now. The Saucony Fastwitch 5 has the potential to be slotted into that category, the shape looks wicked. One issue I have at the moment is that it’s only available in radioactively bright green and a predominantly white version as well. Would be interested to get these on my feet and see if they remain as nice looking once they’re on the move.

9. Herringbone Icarus Cocktail Shirt – $120

Taz knows that I’ve been eyeing off this shirt at Herringbone for a while. I always thought it was a perfect James May shirt, but I’ve never got around to picking it up. Thanks to Herringbone’s current winter sale the Icarus Cocktail Shirt is reduced to $120 (down from $200). Can’t go wrong with a floral liberty fabric.

10. Butter Steez Disease Tee – $60

The guys at Butter Goods have really hit on a good thing with their last few ranges. The current one has some great staples that you may have spotted when Taz posted it earlier on. Of all the pieces I think the Steez Disease is the winner, especially in the grey/red colour I’ve posted. Nice work boys!

I know it’s been a while. This Top Ten has changed a million times over the months but I’ve finally been able to get 10 things I like although some might be a bit old by now…

- t,

1. Nike SB Koston

Really interesting shoe. Heaps of new school tech but it remains nice and clean looking. I’ve been a huge fan of the adidas Skateboarding range but Nike’s SB stuff never really resonated with me. This shoe however looks like it could be a winner. We’ll see once they’re released though.

2. Carhartt x A.P.C New Standard Pant

I’ve always wanted a pair of Carhartt pants in their signature brown duck canvas but the only cuts they seem to use this material in are way too relaxed for my slim physique. A.P.C came to the rescue with these pants in their “New Standard” cut, not too slim and not too wide.

3. Visvim x Dita “Sir Edmund”

There’s no point putting a price down for these are they’re long gone and they cost an arm and a leg. That being said, I think they look fantastic, especially with their elk skin side flaps attached. Nevertheless I’ll never own a pair and my wallet will be all the better for it.

4. Surface to Air x Asics Gel Trainer DS 14 – $270 at Laced soon

These are sick. If you haven’t noticed I’ve been on a high-tech runner thing for a while now and these S2A Asics hit the nail on the head. The Gel Trainer DS 14 is just a normal running shoe, but the French label/design firm came to the party and brought a wicked material mix and a colour palette that tones down the sometimes over-the-top aesthetics of modern day runners. What it results in is a super light comfy shoe that looks wicked.

5. Adidas EQT Support – $160

Not to get too new-school, the EQT Supports have landed in the country and they’re cheap ‘n’ tasty. I already have the ’06 version but this newer retro is a lot easier on the hip pocket and just as good lookin’

6. Stone Island Reflective Jacket – $1026 + P&H

I’ve always loved the top of the line Stone Island jackets, and the reflective jacket was my favourite of that lot. If I had the money I’d take this royal blue number and wear it as much as I could, lighting up streets along the way. Alas with a price in the four figure bracket I don’t think this will be gracing my back any time in the near future.

7. Nike SFB

Be a urban warrior in a wicked fusion of running tech and hardcore military. The colours are quite nice too on the navy number.

8. Tamashi Nation Otona no Chogokin Space Shuttle Endeavour – $480 + P&H

Awesome. Nothing more needs to be said.

9. Nike Zoom Streak

Again with the new school runners! I really love the shape on these and they’re almost non-existant. Look how translucent that upper is! My feet feel cooler just looking at them. There’s some less good looking versions around but this one pictured hits the nail on the head in my opinion.

10. Charlie’s Mango Orange Quencher – $5

I can’t take credit for this really, Taz put me on to it and I’m hooked. Be careful though, you can blow through a litre of this without realising what you’re doing. It’s a bit pricey but worth it. There’s a few other flavours in the range which are worth a try as well.

I can’t believe its been almost 5 months since my last Top Ten. It does however reflect my somewhat frustrated attitude to the market at the moment. It’s not that there isn’t enough decent product around, the problem seems to be me, I’m simply not getting excited about much anymore.

- t,

1. Incase Ping Pong iPhone 4 Cover – $30

Bored? Got an iPhone 4 and sick of it slipping out of your hand/pocket/everywhere and lost your ping pong bat? Incase have you covered on both fronts with their newest creation. My only worry is whether it would just be permanently stuck in your pocked once it was there.

2. Nike Lunarwood+ – $TBA

Well apparently I wasn’t cool enough to get a free pair of shoes from Nike, as they saw fit to give some of the shoes I ranted about being so good to Taz. I swore revenge, but realised I’m too lazy for that. Instead I’ll just say that if I didn’t hate Nike I would really like this Lunarwood+ model, I would say it looks like a nice trade off between ruggedness and comfort. I would then mention they’ll be available at Laced in the not-too-distant future and to keep your eyes peeled… But seen as how I’m being spiteful I wont…

3. Grand Seiko SBGC001 – $Lots

Watches are sweet, my income is not. Seiko is a name synonymous with many things to most of us, but incredibly high quality innovative mechanical movements is not one of them. However, this shouldn’t be as this Japanese company’s Grand Seiko range is home to the Spring Drive movement, a technical marvel that surpasses the old world problems of most swiss movements with the trademark Japanese ingenuity and respect for tradition, along with meticulous quality control. I can’t go into depth about what the Spring Drive movement entails because basically it’s well beyond my knowledge and it would take quite a while to explain but basically this watch does not ‘tick’ at all, its hands move in completely fluid sweeps. Have a search on Youtube for some clips that will better explain what I’m saying.

One of the downfalls of this range has been their face aesthetics, with most of the watches sporting huge power reserve slashes in the face. That is, until now. The SBGC001 chronograph looks awesome, and I’m sure it would be stupidly huge on my wrist with those enormous pushers but I don’t care. Anyone willing to loan me a few thousand, I’ve read the retail is going to be somewhere around US$6000.

4. Oliver Peoples “Zooey” Sunglasses – $350

Zooey Deschanel is just a cool chick; she’s an actress, jazz/folk singer and pretty awesome in every movie role that she has appeared in. When I heard that the long-time Oliver Peoples ambassador had created a frame with the company I knew it would be spot-on. They retain a retro coolness whilst being modern and at risk of sounding like a complete tool, they reflect the charm of their namesake. The all-black version is a no brainer, but the rose/blue combination has me sucked in even harder. Now I just need to find a lady fit to wear them…

5. Citroen Metropolis Concept – $Lots and Lots

Sticking with the modern whole trendiness theme, we move onto my next pick which is Citroen’s Metropolis Concept, which is undeniably French. There’s something about Citroens that just tickles me the right way, sure they’re a bit weird but that’s the point! I hate when they release a model that could pass for something more mainstream because I think that’s going against what the company is best known for. To me the enormous Metropolis would make a great replacement for the C6, another favourite largely un-loved model of mine.

6. New Balance 1500 UKG – $Don’t Bother

I’m gonna be honest with everyone here. I intended to include the UKG in here as they’re a shoe I was semi-waiting for since seeing that the OG colour 1500 was being re-released. However recent images and seeing the quality of the current UK made New Balance products has changed my tune. Instead I’m going to say that it’s not worth bothering with this shoe unless you really truly want to get a shoe that somewhat resembles a 1500 in the colours that the shoe was originally produced in.

From what I’ve seen on Ebay (there’s about 2 trillion pairs of seconds for peanuts), the shape is horrendous. The picture I’ve used above looks actually quite nice, alas this doesn’t seem to be an accurate representation of the real released model. My suggestion is to just wait out for a pair of the Anniversay release from 2006 (1500IB) and pay the extra, as the shape and materials are miles ahead of these things.

7. Vintage Frames Company Cazal 951 – $750

Y’all know I got the gold version of this iconic model from Optiko the other month, well Corey Shapiro’s Vintage Frames Company teamed up with Cazal to bring back the colourway that (in my opinion) is the best version of this frame, the red/black. Quite a site harder to find in original form than most of the other versions, having them retro’d means that many have the chance to pick up a snappy looking pair of sunnies. Sure they’re expensive, but c’mon!

8. Maison Martin Margiela Classic Leather Duffle Bag – $1525

I’ve recently realised that my current Incase backpack is great for one use and one use only, carrying a laptop and some small bits and pieces. As such I’m currently on the lookout for a suitable duffle to act as an overnight bag. I’ve always been a fan of MMM’s simple design and the leather used on this bag is nothing short of amazing looking, I’m a sucker for this pebbled leather. The only issue is the fact that it’s a crap load of money for a piece that will be thrown around and abused more than a bit. Still, one can dream…

9. Acronym 3A-5TS MKII Tec Sys Messenger – $730

Acronym does some sick bags and jackets, I love their modular approach and among all the faux technical jackets out there they seem to be actually trying some new stuff. Unfortunately this also means that their products are pretty damn expensive. The bag I’ve picked here is more realistically priced than some of their items, however the awesome solar panel and modular pockets in the picture are add-ons that push the priced even higher. It’s still cool to see these pieces being made, as it’s interesting to see whether this sort of thinking gets picked up and made more mainstream and not just in niche markets.

10. NOIR Selvedge 5 Pocket Jean – $320

Finally we have an item that I actually already own and have been wearing for a little while now. NOIR is the brainchild of a few Aussies, most notably Pete from For The Homies. This brand picks up where Homies stops and provides locally designed apparel meticulously crafted in Japan.

The Selvedge 5 Pocket Jean comes in a long developed cut that has been modified since the last all-black Homies jean, this time though in indigo denim. The best way to describe the cut is a comfortably slim straight leg, something that’s perfect for myself as it basically fits my build perfectly. I’ve actually picked the pocket acurate for a cleaner look. The fit is true to waist, make sure you get them tight though as they will stretch to fit. Beware if you’re considering these as they bleed like jeans are supposed to so white shoes are a risk.

I’ve been compiling this list literally for months. It’s taken a while but I’ve finally got 10 things I feel like sharing with you.

- t,

1. Adidas Skate Busenitz Pro (Light Maroon) – $160

I’ve said it so many times, Adidas Skate is killing it these last few seasons. The back end of 2010 is no different, with my favourite new shoe in years; the Busenitz Pro Model coming in burgundy suede. Doesn’t get much better than that, and they’ll be in store at Laced next month. I want them now!

2. Mercedes Benz SLS E-Cell

Ok, so it’s just another electric car that a company has churned out to show that they’re “green” right? Well yeah probably, but the SLS E-Cell seems more than that. Look past the oh-so-arab colour and you’ve basically got a 480kw supercar. There’s no stupidly designed wheels, no pictures of leafs, no literal interpretations of being “green” (I’m calling the colour a yellow). At the end of the day, if you painted it silver it would be just like any other SLS AMG, except this one needs no petrol to go anywhere. Ok so there’s problems with battery technology, and there’s issues with how we product the electricity, but those can be fixed if we wanted to. Sure there’s no throb of a meaty AMG V8, but the thing revs to 12,000rpm and has more torque anyway. I think it does the SLS name well too, I mean the 300SL was a trail blazer with its fuel injected engine so what better platform to move technology forward again?

3. Ledbury Slim Fit Blue & White Collins Stripe Shirt – $142

We’re all growing up, and at some point in time you’re going to need a decent shirt to wear. Hell, I don’t mind wearing something with a collar now and then just because it takes my fancy. The trick is getting a decent shirt so you don’t look like a twat when you’re wearing it, which means it has to fit you properly.

American company Ledbury have some nice regular sized shirts, although still a bit slimmer than the cookie cutter options, but they also do a slim line for the less girthy gentleman (such as myself). I picked their collins stripe casual shirt because I’m not that serious, and not ballsy enough to wear anything pink or purple. Made in the USA and at a bloody nice price point. A worthy alternative to the generic polo made for 30 cents.

4. Tudor Heritage Chronograph – Hopefully not too expensive

I have gotten sucked into the world of mechanical watches this year, and being my normal self it has resulted in months of research and learning and zero purchases. The truth is that a decent watch is expensive, and I am not rich or even moderately comfortable financially. Still, when I think of the money I’ve spent on sneakers it’s not that ridiculous.

Recently Rolex’s lower-end brand Tudor announced the Heritage Chrono, which is actually a remake of a model they sold in the 70s updated for modern times. The face is offered in grey or black and has grown to 42mm, it comes with either a stainless bracelet or NATO strap. I’ve not read anything on pricing, but with my limited knowledge I can only say that it’ll be cheaper than the equivalent Rolex and probably still out of my price range. Here’s to hoping though.

A decent gallery of pics can be seen here. There’s also a sweet little video on Tudor’s website.

5. Be Positive Chukka Brush Off – $370

Italian footwear brand BePositive know how to make a Chukka boot, and it looks great in royal blue leather. They’re a bit pricey, but it’s Italian so camaaaan! What’s even cooler is their deer suede version that is actually cheaper than the pictured pair, mainly because they’re not from some random Russian site I found one late night, instead coming from Italy’s own Slam Jam.

6. HUF x adidas Rod Laver – $134

Proof of how long I’ve been compiling the bits for this post. When I picked this the damn shoe hadn’t even released, now it’s on sale at End Clothing. Grey perforated suede, snake heel, turquoise lining, nicely shaped shoe, ‘nuf said. Sure beats Huf’s own efforts into the footwear industry.

7. Go Faster: The Graphic Design of Race Cars by Sven Voelker – $30

Graphic design and racing cars, two things I love and enjoy immensely. I really don’t need to explain as to why this is here any more.

8. Oliberte Abido – $155

We here at P4 really appreciate people with big ideas, hell we push FEIT’s product hard because it’s just so nice to see them bring something fresh to the industry. Canadian company Oliberte are doing something pretty cool as well. They’ve focussed on supporting African nations with the production of their shoes. Rubber comes from Liberia, leathers from Ethiopia as well as the footwear being produced there. At the end of the day though, the product has to be appealing, and the Adibo Desert boot looks sick in deep navy suede. Clothing with a conscience, both ethical and environmental is something myself and Taz dig completely, and it’s nice to see companies out there giving a go at improving the way our clothes are made.

9. Adicup New York Pack - $280

I like the Adicup project, it’s cool and wish there was potential to do something similar in Australia. Alas there are so few stores left in the country that attempting similar would be almost impossible, but that’s another story. To celebrate each round there has been a pack made in collaboration with artists and stores from each host town. My favourite of the releases is the USA team kit created by Undefeated and Artkip. The Votary shoe looks wicked in that familiar blue adidas do so well. The bag I don’t really care about, but the jersey is pretty well executed (the Berlin one is the best of the series though). Limited to 300 sets of each they’re pretty hard to find though, especially since the USA pack hasn’t released yet after some issues with production.

10. Gran Turismo 5 Collectors Pack

I honestly can’t remember how long I’ve been waiting for the release of Gran Turismo 5 (I haven’t got involved in the Prologue version). The damn thing has been coming for so long that the cover “hero” car has changed three times (R35 GTR, ZR1 Corvette and now the SLR AMG).

Well last week at E3 the release date for GT5 was set for November 2nd. Seeing that I’ve been waiting for the release for so long, and the fact its been pushed back literally years I’m a bit skeptical. Obviously this is the most solid date set so far, so chances are it’ll be out when they say it is. When it does finally release I’m sure it’s going to be awesome, and it’s now just a matter of waiting. To celebrate this momentous release there is a collectors edition that includes 5 downloadable cars and an ugly model of an R35 GTR, as well as some sort of book that I can only assume is an excuse to take more money from us.

Watch the announcement video here.

With Taz currently en-route to Sydney (I had to stay back for work) I’ve found myself quite bored with nothing much to blog about. So my only reaction is to post up a new Top Ten. I’ve tried to include prices where possible to make it a little more… relevant? Be impressed dammit! This is also the first Top Ten in the new 640px wide format of the blog, so view in all the high(er) resolution glory.

- t,

Prices are a rough conversion in Aussie dollars with the help of xe.com

1. Aether Space Hoodie - $325+ P&H

It’s not just because of the name, I swear! I’m quite over the cotton hoodie look, mainly because every time I wear them I somehow look like the dodgiest guy in the room. Probably the hair… But that’s not changing so instead the hoodie can. It’s not overly baggy and has a nice techie feel without being over the top. My choice is in “monument” a nice shade of silvery-grey, just to push the modern feel a bit more. At $325 plus postage it’s a bit pricey but now’s as good a time as ever to buy from overseas with the Aussie dollar being so strong, and a decent light jacket is good for our climate.

2. Visvim ISDT Boot – $535+ P&H

I think if you’ve followed this running segment I write you’d see a pattern of desert boots popping up all the time. I’m still searching for something that treads the line between classical Clarks silhouette and a heel-less contemporary take. Visvim’s ISDT boot seems to almost get there. There’s a few niggles though; at over $535 they aren’t cheap, the polka dotted heel cap doesn’t tickle my fancy at all, and they’re all sold out at the Honeyee online store now… Lame. Still if anyone wants to give me a pair, I’ll take the sand or tan pair thanks.

3. A Bathing Ape x Regal Desert Boot – $295+ P&H

Yeah, another damn desert boot ripoff… These ones even have a noticable heel. Something about these Bapestas for the dapper lad hits the right spot in their beige and black interpretations. The chocolate brown version isn’t really my kit. Luckily they’re all sold out as well, so there’s not even a temptation to make a regretful purchase. Nevertheless I’m happy to sit and look at them.

4. Porsche Design P’6780 Diving Watch – $TBA

Taz doesn’t like it, so naturally that attracted me to it. That and the fact that it remains modern yet uncluttered (unlike a lot of new watches that look more like an alien weapon than a timepiece). The nifty flip-forward function is a drawcard as well. It might even fit my delicate lady-like wrists as well. I’m sure it’ll end up being well out of my price range though, so hazzah for wishful thinking.

5. Super People Havana Glitter - $280 Shipped @ Laced

I got a bit sick of wearing my Dita Lanciers all the time, so naturally the cure was to buy even more sunglasses. This time I’ve found a Super frame that actually fits my human-sized head. No longer is the retrosuperfuture eyewear restricted to petit young ladies, children and dudes with tiny heads. This new frame is called “People” and it produces a classic shape without being a straight Wayfarer rip. Add to that Super’s signature Havana Glitter frame finish and some sexy brown Zeiss lenses and you have a nice pair of sunnies that don’t need to be transported in a box the size of a small dog. You can get the new Super range from Laced (if you come in person you can totally hang out with me and we could end up being besties) although you’ll have to get this frame/colour combo ordered in ’cause I got them… ha!

6. Persol 714 Ratti – $317+ P&H

I’m not very good at this am I? This time I’ve got another pair of sunglasses, this time I haven’t bought them… yet. The Persol 714 is synonymous with one man to me; Steve McQueen. The man was undeniably cool and anything he approved of is fine by me. The 714 Ratti were Mr McQueen’s go-to sunglasses. If I had even a shred of the man’s effortless cool I’d be down for some 714′s in dark tortoise with eyegoodies’ custom blue lenses, something of a signature look that McQueen sported. As I don’t possess anywhere near enough style I’ll leave them be I think.

7. Tanner Goods Eyeglass Case – $74+ P&H

Look I can’t even get off the same topic when I try! There’s actually a little more to this though. Yeah it’s a glasses case, but Super don’t provide anything except a crappy little micro-fiber bag with their sunnies so I want to grab something that will protect them from being crushed. It provides as good of an excuse as any to buy something from Tanner Goods. The story behind this company is damn interesting, which in short involves two guys that used to work in Nike’s Innovation Kitchen but got sick of not making anything themselves so they started up a leather goods company and craft every piece themselves. It’s all natural and made in Portland, Oregon. Pictured is their 60′s inspired eyeglass case in Havana finish. Check out their site, there’s some great stuff there. They also recently had an interview on Hypebeast, it’s a great read.

8. RAUH-Welt Overload

Japanese company RAUH-Welt make some of the most awesome tuned Porsches in the world. I’m sure you’ve seen one of their cars on the internet before, even if you didn’t realise it. Artist Jon Sibal compiled a crapload of shots on his blog for your viewing glory. Speedhunters has a nice little archive of RAUH-Welt related stories which are really quite interesting. It’s funny to see where the influences on the man behind these crazy modern-day supercars come from. I’m a fan and I’m sure you will be too. If not, you’re shit.

9. FEIT Moc Mid – $296 Shipped

As we’ve already posted, we think this new approach that FEIT has taken is a step in the right direction. The first model to be offered under the FEIT Direct site is the Moc Mid in both grey and black. I personally think these shit all over similar boots from more “established” brands and they’re Australian made and owned, I mean c’mon. Plus if you pre-order them you get free shipping and 10% off! Be quick though, the limited quantities of Kudu leather means there will only be 18 pairs of the grey and 36 pairs of the black produced. If this latest venture of FEIT’s doesn’t work we have only ourselves to blame. So grow some balls and support our own Australian footwear brand! Screw Ugg Boots, join the FEIT!

10. James Laurie: Cornered

I thought I’d finish this post off with a little nifty light hearted invention from artist James Laurie. It’s named “cornered” and basically it solves the problem encountered when trying to trap any sort of animal intruder in the house with a cup. How many times has a gecko or spider run up into the corner of the room as if to taunt you and you’re inferior trapping utensils? Well if you’re as masculine as myself then it’s all too often. Luckily this awesome little deal will have you outsmarting critters with ease. But then again, it’s pretty useless to drink out of… so who really trumped who?

That’s about it from me for another Top Ten. If you even read this, feel free to send in some stuff that you think is pretty cool for me to have a look at. Just give the little avatar of me on the right hand side a click, or just shoot an email to twizm@project4000.com.au

I’m busy as hell this semester, so the blog takes the back seat while I’m finishing off my degree. Somehow I managed to find the time to get another Top Ten out though… Funny that…

- t,

1. Spoon Sports Honda CRZ

Since it first appeared as an all-electric concept car I’ve been a huge fan of the Honda CRZ. I was disappointed when it released as a hybrid, but I suppose the world still isn’t ready for a mass produced electric car. Nevertheless, the aesthetics of this little wedge shaped hatch are something to fall in love with regardless of what powers it. Of course the production version got smaller wheels and less exaggerated features compared to the concept, but Spoon’s lowered and blue wheel-ified version proves that there’s a slick little car on the market that isn’t European. Yes please.

2. Benedict Redgrove

Some amazing shots of some amazing machinery. Whilst he does photograph various things, the automotive and aeronautical photography from this fellow are truly amazing. Feel free to waste some time.

3. Number(nine) for Converse

I usually couldn’t give two hoots about a collaboration between Japanese label Number (nine) and Converse, but there’s something strangely alluring about this white blotted suede shoe. I don’t know whether it’s the asymmetrical lacing of the unusual way the panels wrap around the toe box, something about them appeals to me. Going by the label they’re done with and the fact they were released last Saturday chances are they’re all gone by now. The $140us price tag isn’t exactly a bargain either.

4. Eastman Leather

If you want a dope leather jacket, hit up Pete at For The Homies. If you want a period correct bomber jacket with painstaking attention to every single detail that is guaranteed to be as authentic as the real deal then go see Eastman Leather. The pieces are truly amazing, and the effort involved in their projects must be immense. If I owned an old war bird I would rock the hell out of this stuff, squadron logos and all. Pictured is my favourite of the bunch, the USAAF B-15 Rough Wear jacket.

5. New Balance MTG580

On the same military jacket theme, New Balance Asia have been working on another Gore-Tex laden 580. This one is christened the MTG580 and its theme revolves around MA-1 jackets. The colour palette is solid, materials on point and they sport a really sweet tongue tag reminiscent of jacket tags. Even the velcro N’s seem fitting. Due out in July.

6. Adidas Gazelle OG

You can’t mess with a classic, one of those being the red suede Adidas Gazelle. The “Gazelle OG” sees one of the best interpretations of adi’s staple shoe shape and material wise. Get some from SNS while there’s still some left.

7. Han Kjobenhavn Wolfgang Cola Sunglasses

There’s something about that cola gradient that just screams summer. Sure we’re just going out of season, but c’mon winter in Queensland these days is just a windier version of summer. Kind of reminds me of a cola flavoured Chuppa Chup. Get ‘em from the Han Kjobehavn web store.

8. L.L.Bean Signature Eastport Handsewn Ranger Moc Suede

Something a little different to the norm, these are a reproduction of L.L.Bean’s Ranger Moc from 1955. Hand sewn and pretty damn lush looking, for $79us, why the hell not? Available in navy and sand suede, as they should be.

9. Wired – 10 Damn-Near Perfect Cars

While I don’t necessarily agree with all their choices (I’ve already named some cars that I love previously) but it’s worth a read. I was quite intrigued to see the General Motors EV1 in there. If you haven’t already, I’d suggest watching Who Killed The Electric Car? if you don’t understand the controversy surrounding this little car.

10. Graham Grand Silverstone Luffield, Night Racer

If I could, I would. But I can’t, so I wont. In the mean time, if you feel generous you could buy me one. Chances are I wouldn’t wear it anyway, ’cause my tiny girl wrists would probably snap under the weight.

And with that, she’s all done. See you on the flippity flop.

I tried to get this done before it passed my birthday, but I failed by 10 minutes. Please forgive me an read on…

- t

1. Ubiq Grace

Ubiq are really doing well with the whole indie sneaker/shoe/boot thing of the last few years, and this wheat nubuck version of the Grace Mid shoe is a stellar effort. Something that’s both classic and modern at the same time. This particular version of the Grace is a little tricky to find, but you can pick some up at Kasina.

2. Hard Graft 3Fold Multi-Use Bag

I’ve already mentioned Hard Graft’s work in a previous post, and I can vouch for the amazing quality of their items after I grabbed last season’s Y+U Laptop Sleeve.

This new season sees a return of their extremely limited bag range in different colours. Whilst the 2UNFOLD Laptop Bag seems to be the most popular item of the range once again, what caught my eye is the 3Fold Multi-Use Bag this time in slate grey nappa leather (this stuff is seriously bonkers). Where this bag gets its name from is the ability to be 3 bags in one; a laptop bag, portfolio bag or an overnight bag. Whilst the price seems steep, the quality of Hard Graft’s materials and construction is making this quite a tempting birthday gift to myself.

3. Apartment – A Shirt

My boys at Apartment have just added to their expanding clothing line with a new range of A T-shirts. They’re all organic, and all-too-comfy. I grabbed myself the black/black version for ultimate stealthiness (’cause Jigga told me to) but there’s also some more summer-suitable versions. Check them all out at the Apartment e-store and grab one from there or go and see the boys in-store. Tell ‘em twizzy sent ya!

4. Stile Bertone Alfa Romeo Pandion Concept

Ok so they’re just renderings, but c’mon Bertone and Alfa Romeo together spells trouble. I’m sure many will hate it, much like they hated the Mantide and the last creation from the marriage of these two companies the BAT 11. I for one loved both of those cars, and from these shots I love this one too. Many concept cars have lost the flair and stupidity that these cars are supposed to represent. Nowadays they’re just a preview of a company’s upcoming sedan with big wheels and LEDs everywhere.

This car however has swagger and doesn’t lack insanity. Hopefully it looks even better once it’s released at the Geneva Auto Show.

5. Samsung Wave

So I’m starting to think I need a new phone. I haven’t bought myself a new cellular device for quite some time, something like 5 years or more. For that time period I survived on hand-me-downs which seem to have done the trick better than investing into new dodgy build quality pieces. But alas, I am finally succumbing to the technological advances in the smart phone arena. The new Samsung Wave looks to be a cracker. On paper the hardware sounds fantastic, 1gHz processor, more RAM than my old computer and that bloody brilliant Super AMOLED screen which seems impervious to sun light. The only question on this bad boy is the software… we’ll see.

6. Common Projects Desert Boot – Warm Grey

Once again I’m reposting something I’ve discussed before. This time though we see this great shoe made from “warm grey” suede and actually being available, even if the price is a bit on the crazy side.

7. HTC Desire

What do you get when you take Google’s Nexus 1 phone and remove the Google-iness? Why that’d be the HTC Desire. What’s even better is it’s coming to Australia in April! The bad news it’s a Telstra exclusive, but that’s manageable. Wonder what the price point is going to be on it though…

8. V8 Supercars Round.1 – Yas Marinas

Best part about this one is it doesn’t cost money. After what feels like years, the V8 Supercar season starts back up. Whilst last week’s QLD Raceway test day was a ball (I always forget how good the cars sound in real life) there is no substitution for racing. This time it all kicks off in the UAE, with the boys racing around the stunning Yas Marinas circuit (sadly a shorter version that that used by F1). Frankly I’m not too happy about it not being televised live (around 2am) as it means I have to tape it and re-watch it after work. Boo!

You can check the whole season calendar at the V8 Supercar website.

9. Waft

Yes it’s a stupid name, yes it’s a stupid book cover, yes it’s a stupid website, and yes the price is nearly stupid. But just look at the cars featured and think about the awesomeness that lies within. You’ll thank me (and someone buy me a copy).

It’s all ironic considering I drive an old HiLux yet have such a passion for fine cars. Anyway, that doesn’t matter. Here’s my list of 10 cars that I would love to have in my posession. This isn’t just a list of cars I like, it’s ten cars that given the opportunity, I want to own. Truth be told, if I had to pleasure of owning just one of these I’d be mighty happy. Even the chance to drive one… now I’m getting desperate. Read on!

- t

So here we go, in no particular order other than the ease of finding a decent picture…

1. Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso (1963)

Honestly one of the most beautiful cars ever created in my opinion. Whilst the SWB (short wheel base) and Testa Rossa versions of the 250 seem to be more popular, the Lusso (Luxury) almost seems cooler for it’s nonchalant approach to performance. The longer nose and more natural curves are simply stunning, and as many have remarked; the proportions on this car are near on perfect. Taking nearly 3 months to built, and only 350 being made in a little over 18 months, it remains near the top of my list of cars I would love to own.

2. Citroën DS (1955)

This particular polarises opinion. You either love it or hate it, for me it’s definitely in the former category. From the tapered profile, the covered rear wheels to the indicators sitting up on the roofline, there’s something so undeniably French about the way the DS looks and it has charm that can’t be replicated. Consider that the DS was released in 1955 after 18 years of development, that’s right the car you see here was available to buy 55 years ago! This car pre-dates the ’57 Chevy and was on the roads when people could still buy a brand new FJ Holden! In a time when kids were drinking Cherry Coke, this car featured hydropneumatic suspension for goodness sake! The DS remained in production for 20 years, and my personal favourite interpretation was the 3rd generation with it’s quad directional headlights. To me, this car is automotive art. A combination of beauty and innovation.

3. Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren (2005)

Heralding the first car to be produced by the little car racing gang in Woking since the F1 road car, the SLR was considered by many journalists as a failed product. McLaren had created an amazing vehicle, made from lightweight materials like Carbon Fibre and aluminium but Mercedes proceeded to weight it down with electronics until it weighed in at nearly 2 tonnes. Coupled with the fact it was only available as with an automatic transmission and notoriously bad brake feel, nobody seemed to rate the SLR as a true hypercar. Instead branding it as a Grand Tourer (GT). Despite this, the SLR still maintains devastating performance, helped no doubt by that gem of an engine from Mercedes’ tuning arm AMG. The sound that the hand built 5.4-litre supercharged V8 is immense, and I’d be so lucky to be able to hear it thump away as I fired down a deserted road. Visually the thing is stunning, and in my view a much better adaptation of the classic “gullwing” Merc than the recent SLS. Those frontal exiting exhausts, the never-ending nose that pulls some autobot-esque moves to reveal that amazing piece of german hot-rod engineering beneath it. Jay Leno branded this as “the supercar you can drive every day” and that’s something that can’t be bad in my view. For me this represents the best german supercar in decades, challenged only by the even-more-mythical Porsche Carrera GT. Unlike the SLS or the universally loved Audi R8, the SLR has character, and I’m a sucker for the big thing.

4. Ford Falcon XY GT-HO Phase III (1971)

The ultimate Aussie muscle car. Whilst the americans were busy with their huge 2 doors, the madmen at Ford Australia shoved their formidable 351c.i. Cleveland V8 into the Falcon sedan (as it had been doing for years), added the option of the “HO” (Handling Option) package and sent them racing. Only 300 were ever built, which included the ones raced in touring car events (most famously around Mount Panorama, Bathurst). The XY is the final, fastest and most famous of the HO’s. With power ranging from 270-280kw in 1971 (mind-boggling) the XY GT-HO was reputed to be the world’s fasts production 4-door car. Today the GT legend lives on, none greater than that embodied by this Australian icon. Nowadays the price of a genuine GT-HO sits around the $750,000 – $1,000,000 mark. Just awesome.

5. BMW E9 3.0 CSL (1973)

What happens when your racing cars struggle from aerodynamic problems? Why you make a bodykit for it. Because of homologation rules, this meant that the CSL had to come with the bodykit from the factory, however this caused problems when it was deemed illegal to fit the kit in Germany. The solution? Put it in the boot! That’s right, the 3.0 CSL came without the bodykit fitted, ingenious! Dubbed the “Batmobile” for its outrageous looks when fitted with the aerodynamic aids, the beautiful lines of the E9 3.0 meant that with or without the additions the car looked stunning. With a 3.2L straight six under that shark-nosed bonnet and famous BMW handling characteristics it remains a legend.

6. Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 (2008)

When Lamborghini was bought out by Volkswagen you’d be forgiven for thinking that the German mindset would destroy the Italian insanity that the raging bull is so famous for. Luckily this is anything but true. It seems that the only thing that Lamborghini lost was the bad parts of being Italian, like reliability. Often overshadowed by its bigger brother, the Murcielargo, the Gallardo always held its own in the performance stakes but lacked a little flare. The Superleggera was great, but it was just a Gallardo with a wing. Then, inspired by the instantly famous Reventon’s jet fighter cues, the LP560-4 was born. To me this represents everything a Lamborghini should be. The new lines only accentuate that brilliant wedge shape, and in virginal white with optional cordelia wheels it becomes what I believe is the best looking supercar currently in production. And then there’s the sound that V10 makes…

7. Audi B7 RS4 Quattro Avant (2006)

Ever since the original came out only in Avant (wagon) form, I was intrigued by the notion of a blisteringly fast wagon. The idea that you could slay old men in their souped up falcodores and porsches and still carry around a load of mates and groceries is something that I think is brilliant. That said, I never quite liked the bigger and more powerful RS6 version, for some reason it didn’t have the same character. The latest version drops the original’s twin turbo V6 for a naturally aspirated V8 that sounds bloody fantastic. For years this has honestly been a realistic dream car of mine, still a few years to go at this rate though… I’ll take one in Sprint Blue Pearl please!

8. BMW E30 M3 (1986)

If you’re wondering why this car is here, you probably aren’t that into cars. During its 6 years of production the M3 competed in just about every form of motorsport everywhere in the world. From touring cars to rallying, the first M3 has done it all. In a lot of ways it remains the only M3 to really live up to its racing heritage as well, with it being built with homologation for Group A in mind. Nowadays the M3 is a force to be reckoned with on the road, often unparalleled in performance, but it lacks the raw race car edginess of its great grandfather. In an era where cars were lifeless econoboxes, the M3 makes square sexy, and wins my heart. I would love nothing more than to take one for a drive along a mountain road somewhere here in Queensland.

9. McLaren F1 (1992)

I’m pretty sure everyone in the world at some point marvelled at the McLaren F1. For years it held the crown as the world’s fastest production car. Set in 1998 it topped out at 391km/h. This was set in a car running a naturally aspirated BMW sourced V12 engine. Only 3 cars have surpassed this mark, all requiring artificial aspiration and vastly more power to overcome the F1′s record. The car featured an amazing lack of technology in areas such as traction control and anti-lock brakes, which Ron Dennis explains as taking away driving feel. There is no doubt that the McLaren F1 is a hardcore drivers car of the utmost calibre, and that’s reflected in its fiery reputation for requiring real driving finesse to get the most from the car. This car really is a modern classic, and to own one would be an honour.

10. McLaren MP4-12C (2011)

Ok, so first off it isn’t actually in production at the moment. But much like its predecessor, the McLaren F1, the MP4-12C looks set to change the way we think of supercars. Gordan Murray tells us that this will be cheaper, faster, and more economical than all of its competitors, and I’m one to believe him. Visually many people seem underwhelmed, but I think it possesses all of the things a good supercar should. Its been accused of looking like the Lotus Evora, but is that such a bad thing? I mean, nobody complains that the newest Jaguar XK looks like an Aston Martin? This car will also mark the first time McLaren will build their own engine, something quite exciting indeed. The car will also bring over more than its fair share of Formula 1 sourced technology, which is ironic considering what the F1 road car stood for. Needless to say, there’s a good chance this car will be as revolutionary as just about everything else to come from the Woking based race car builder started by a New Zealander.

Well its been a while but the Top Ten’s back in ’10!

- t

1. UNDFTD adidas Rod Laver Consortium V.2

I spotted these in the UNDFTD lookbook around the time their first version of the Rod Laver dropped and merely dismissed them as a sample. It turns out I was wrong and these lush navy blue suede numbers will be coming to a consortium dealer near you.

2. Pointer Cyril

I’m a fan of the Clarks Desert Boot up to the crepe sole used on them. It’s not to say I’m not digging the crepe, it’s just that heel. Now I know it’s a classic shoe and that’s how its been for years, but I just don’t like the look. Many brands try and fail to recreate the simple feel of the Desert Boot, but Pointer seem to have nailed it without making a carbon copy of Clarks version.

3. Shuky Par Avion

Since I recently acquired my new laptop, I’ve been chasing some sort of protection for when I carry it around. Whilst I’m waiting on a new shipment of Incase backpacks to arrive at Laced, I’m also in the market for a simple sleeve. Of course now I’m a Mac owner I need to have something fancy and artistic to keep up appearances with all the other cool people who use Macs. Anyway, this nifty little piece looks like a manilla folder but it’s actually a sleeve made to fit a 15″ (or 13″) Macbook Pro. Constructed by Shuky in Australia from premium leather it’s both nifty and useful. Click to the pic to purchase one.

4. Bernie & Brabham – The Grand Prix Pirates

Most motorsport fans would know Bernie Eccelstone as the man behind modern day Formula 1, and a bit of a controversial personality to say the least. However it may come as a surprise to know that he used to be a successful team owner. This little article written by renowned motorsport photographer John Brooks provides an insight into the man before he was walking up and down the F1 grid with an entourage of super wealthy business men. Click the picture to read the article.

5. Eric Testroete – Big Head Mode

This one’s a little old, but I saved it to use in this post. 3D artist Eric Testroete went all out with his Halloween (I told you it was old) costume, creating what any avid gamer will recognise as “big head mode” except this one is real! Stuff like this makes me think that there may be hope yet for the human race.

6. Lancier by Dita – LS.001.BLK.G15

What happens when Dita decides to redefine the art of sunglasses? Lancier. 3 models, 3 different versions, 3 different applications. Road, Air, Sea. Liberal use of titanium, quick change arms and a lush leather box that’s big enough for a dead body. Does it get any more awesome? My pick of the bunch is the LS.001 model in black. These babies will be coming to Australia, only a very very few sets will make it across the sea and one will land at Laced. Beware though, retail is going to be $1200us+.

7. Hard Graft Y+U (Macbook Sleeve + Add-On)

Continuing the theme of laptop sleeves, this time coming from Austria, we have the Hard Graft Y+U sleeve. This company was introduced to myself by the asian half of P4. Designed in Austria, hand made in Italy. Does it get much better? The Y+U includes an extra pouch to store other essentials like power cords and whatever else might strike your fancy. Both being held together by one hell of a good looking herringbone elastic strap. If you don’t need the extra room you could always opt for the smaller but possibly handsomer U Macbook Sleeve.

8. Kaweco AL Sport Aluminium Pen

Well I’m not going to lie, I wouldn’t have even known about this pen or company if I weren’t browsing Hard Graft’s site. But now I’ve seen it, I must have one! All you really need to know is Kaweco have been making pens for over 125 years, the pen is billet aluminium and they’re made in Germany, ’nuff said.

9. The History of Computer Data Storage

This little chart created by Flickr user Curtis Spontelli really makes you realise how far computer technology has come. In a similar vain mozy.com created a visual description of how large a petabyte is which you can check out here.

10. Reebok Paris Runner
